Played at Higginson Park, Marlow
On Sunday 18th April 2021
35 overs a side Game Photos
On a second cloudless day in a row, Marlow Park took to the field at midday, a time which several of their players thought it was the right time to get out of bed on a Sunday, as all their opponents were observing Ramadan and wanted to get home by dusk.
Slough batted first, all their batsmen scoring a few runs and they reached 234 when the last wicket fell to the last ball of their thirty-five overs. For Marlow Park, Vaughan van de Linde took three wickets, with Sam Coote, Pete Stephens and Derek Goosen collecting two apiece.
For Park, Van de Linde made twenty-seven before he was adjudged LBW, Kyle Bradley reached twenty-six but with no others breaching twenty, the ninth wicket fell at 128.
Then the brothers Goosen came together and swung at everything, achieving the only half-century stand of the day and hit eight fours and a six between them. Unfortunately all thoughts of a last-wicket miracle were denied when Derek was bowled for 34, leaving Chris on 15* and Slough the victors by 51 runs.
